PRESENTATION

Within the vast field of arts and crafts, the reproduction of molds and handcrafted ceramic pieces is a field of great importance in the professional field handcrafted glass and ceramics. This course focuses on providing the participants the essential knowledge they need to produce molds for the purpose of replicating ceramic pieces in a handcrafted and authentic.

Mold replication is a technique a crucial element that allows artisans to create faithful replicas of original parts, which is valuable both from a with a view to preserving the artisanal tradition as well as to meet the demand in the market for unique ceramic products.

Objectives

  • Apply conditioning procedures for molds for reproducing plaster casts as set forth in the operating procedures, in accordance with the occupational safety and environmental standards.

  • Apply procedures for preparing plaster slurry for mold reproduction, as specified in the operating procedures, in accordance with the safety and environmental protection standards.

  • Apply procedures for reproduction of plaster molds, depending on the molding process (slip or plastic clay) used for handmade ceramic pieces.

  • Apply drying procedures for plaster molds used in the production of handcrafted ceramic pieces, as specified in the operating procedures, in compliance with occupational safety and environmental regulations.

  • Apply die conditioning processes for the reproduction of resin molds as specified in operating methods.

  • Apply resin mold replication procedures for the production of parts handcrafted ceramics produced in accordance with established operating procedures, in compliance with safety and environmental protection standards.

PREPARING DIES FOR THE PRODUCTION OF RESIN MOLDS Stages of the die preparation process – Reading work orders – Distributing molds to workstations – Opening molds – Cleaning and preparing molds Identifying defects in resin molds associated with mold preparation – Types of defects – Causes – How to prevent them LEARNING UNIT 3.
