PRESENTATION

The Psychogeriatrics focuses on the mental health of older adults, ranging from the mentally healthy aging until the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of the health conditions typical of this stage of life. Considering the demographic data and the widespread use of healthcare resources among this age group, the Psychogeriatrics Course aims to prepare students, regardless of their educational background, to purchase high-level skills in the field of mental and emotional health of older adults.

Objectives

– To understand the different types of psychological disorders and conditions in adulthood and old age

– To understand how the concept of old age has evolved over time

– To explore in greater depth the models that explain health and disease behaviors

– Master assessment, differential diagnosis, and intervention in older adults

– To convey an appropriate way to cope with aging
