PRESENTATION

This Course on Postural Ergonomics and Physical Effort offers a specialized training in the subject. Through this training, which is part of the Security Profession and, more specifically, to the Safety and Prevention Knowledge Area, the student will study the basic and specific concepts related to the postural ergonomics and the physical exertion management, acquiring the necessary knowledge to specialize in Postural Ergonomics and Physical Effort.

Objectives

Analyze risk factors in order to prevent back injuries and others musculoskeletal injuries, derived from inappropriate static postures, incorrect or repetitive movements y muscle strains.

TEACHING UNIT 1. REGULATIONS Occupational Risk Prevention Act. Royal Decree 487/97: Minimum Requirements for Manual Handling of Loads and Awkward Postures INSHT Technical Guide for the Manual Handling of Loads Royal Decree 39/97: Approval of the Regulations on Prevention Services Importance of Health Surveillance TEACHING UNIT 2. PHYSICAL AND POSTURAL STRESS Ergonomics Physical Load Factors Involved in Physical and Postural Stress Manual Handling of Loads Postures Repetitive Movements Psychosocial Factors and Other Working Conditions TEACHING UNIT 3. MUSCULOSKELETAL DISORDERS Fundamentals of Anatomy Spine: Parts and Functions—Vertebrae, Discs, Ligaments, Muscles Nervous System Most Common Conditions Muscle spasms, spinal deformities, low back pain, lumbosciatica, disc protrusion, herniated disc, neck pain, tendinitis, osteoarthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome TEACHING UNIT 4. SECONDARY FACTORS Influencing factors: Stress, sedentary lifestyle, overweight, associated injuries Psychological factors: Anxiety, mood swings, decreased performance, depression, underestimation LEARNING UNIT 5.
