PRESENTATION

The ergonomics is a scientific discipline that deals with the interaction between humans and the elements of a production system (humans, machines, and the environment); and the application of the scientific knowledge on man and the concept of the jobs with the goal of increasing the Effectiveness and Well-Being for workers. With this training program in Posture and Effort Ergonomics Students will be able to function effectively within the sector and analyze the risk factors to prevent back injuries, for injury prevention musculoskeletal resulting from static postures and improper movements, repetitive movements or muscle strains.

Objectives

  • Analyze the risk factors to prevent back injuries, for injury prevention musculoskeletal resulting from static postures and improper movements, etc.

  • Knowing the specific risks working with display screens.

  • To study the existing regulations regarding workplace ergonomics and awkward postures

  • Analyze the physical and postural exertion and understand musculoskeletal disorders.

TEACHING UNIT 2. PHYSICAL AND POSTURAL EFFORT

  1. Ergonomics

  3. Factors Involved in Physical and Postural Effort

TEACHING UNIT 3. MUSCULOSKELETAL DISORDERS

  1. Fundamentals of Anatomy
  2. Spine: Parts and Functions—Vertebrae, Discs, Ligaments, Muscles
  3. Nervous system
  4. Most Common Conditions: Muscle spasms, spinal deformities, low back pain, lumbosciatica, disc protrusion, herniated disc, neck pain, tendinitis, osteoarthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome

  1. Contributing Factors: Stress, a sedentary lifestyle, being overweight, and associated injuries
