Master's Degree in Continuing Education in Port Infrastructure

Spanish
Credits: 60 ECTS

PRESENTATION

The Master’s in Port Infrastructure is a specialized program for professionals in the construction sector with a background in civil engineering who seek to update and deepen their knowledge in the maritime field. You recognize the strategic importance of ports as vital hubs for global trade, where 95% of freight transport is carried out by sea. This sector, which is constantly expanding and increasingly focused on sustainability, requires the ongoing rehabilitation of existing port facilities and the construction of new infrastructure adapted to current challenges. You will explore the unique aspects of maritime engineering, a field where internationalization processes differ significantly from those in land-based construction. You will understand how physical environments, specific regulations, and unique construction typologies impact the planning and execution of these structures. This program delves into the characterization of the marine environment, advanced structural design, port construction, and comprehensive terminal management—from maintenance to operations. You will develop a strategic vision that will enable you to tackle maritime construction projects from both a technical and leadership perspective, overcoming the shortcomings of a generalist education in this crucial field.

Objectives

• Lead the planning and design of port development projects and marine construction projects, taking into account their entire life cycle. • Design strategies for the construction of port terminals and marine structures, optimizing resources and construction procedures. • Manage the characterization of the marine environment to facilitate informed decision-making in the development of maritime engineering projects. • Implement predictive and corrective port maintenance models for maritime structures and facilities, ensuring their operational reliability and durability. • Oversee the operation and management of terminals, optimizing cargo flows and services. • Evaluate the impact of construction methods and materials on the sustainability and efficiency of port facilities. • Integrate a comprehensive vision into advanced project management in the port sector, from proposal through commissioning, with an international focus. • Make strategic decisions regarding the administration and operations of the port hub, improving competitiveness and efficiency.
